Board Formed Mass Wall

johnhutcharch

This mass wall is designed as an interior hall wall for a contemporary home near the Chester River. The mass wall and adjacent slab catches and retains the energy/heat from the low winter sun through the tall windows, and at night, will release the heat into the home. The wall was board-formed by hand using sand-blasted pine lumber. The sand blasting provides the wood texture after the poor as the softer wood is blasted off, exposing the more dense grain.
